Whether You Like Him Or Not, Bernie Sanders Asked a Very Serious Question

Ed. note: Senator Bernie Sanders asks David L. Norquist, Deputy Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) at this hearing on the Pentagon’s budget: “Who are we preparing to go to war against to defend ourselves from?” Norquist responds by answering: “…part of the emphasis of the strategy was a shift on the focus of terrorism to great power competition with a particular emphasis on the long term challenges of China and Russia.” Pick Bernie Sander’s question and Norquist’s answer up at the 2:48 point in this clip.

With the ongoing China Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) with China stating they will invest $900 billion to build this massive infrastructure throughout the region, will Israel “say goodbye” to America or China as Israel continues attempting to attract more American Jews to Israel? What is typically and sorely lacking in analysis coming out of Israel, like in this article “China and Israel In the Belt and Road Initiative“, is where did all the technology come from for Israel to have become such a powerful technological influence in the world that it can now work with China? The influential Brookings Institute think tank that has always been favorable to Israel’s interests has even released papers on the benefits of China’s Belt & Road Initiative.

Israel Will Have to Choose Between America and China

America’s emerging pressure on Israel to cool its love affair with China may not have such terrible consequences

by David Rosenberg • January 8, 2019

To recast the final lines of Casablanca: “Xi, I think this is the end of a beautiful friendship.” That is more or less what Israel is going to have to say to Beijing in the face of American pressure to…

Ed. note: According to the Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist, US strategy is going to shift to “great power competition” and as Norquist explained, that means with China, either peacefully or by militarily conflict. If at some point there can be no compromises achieved between China and the US and a military confrontation is the only option remaining, the specter of Israel ostensibly being “America’s greatest friend in the Middle East and ally”, while providing China with technology becomes an extremely unsettling proposition.

Whether Norquist’s response is to defend the Pentagon’s nearly $700 billion budget or a threat that is being taken seriously inside the Pentagon remains to be seen. Over in China, the Chinese are so enthusiastic about their relationship with Israel and with making money they’ve even started buying copies of the Talmud.

In Beijing, Netanyahu looks to ‘marry Israel’s technology with China’s capacity’

On second day of state visit, prime minister, Chinese leaders agree on upgrading economic, tech cooperation

BEIJING — On the second day of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit here, Israel and China took further steps to strengthen economic and scientific relations.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong said Beijing and Jerusalem had agreed to upgrade bilateral relations, including by forming an “innovative comprehensive partnership” meant to “bring the ties and the cooperation between the two countries to new heights,” according to the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem.

“Innovation cooperation is a highlight of our bilateral relations,” Liu said at the conclusion of the third meeting of the China-Israel Committee on Innovation Cooperation, held at Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guest House.

Liu said she had visited Israel twice and was “deeply impressed” by its culture of innovation.

“You’re a global leader in research and development,” she said.

Israeli and Chinese ministers and top officials signed 10 bilateral agreements in health, science, education, environmental protection and other areas.

We want to marry our technology with China’s capacity,” Netanyahu said at the summit.

Ed. note: In the article also linked above “American Jews and Israeli Jews Are Headed for a Messy Breakup“, a schism is coming between American Jews and Jews in Israel. One of the reasons is because it makes absolutely no sense for America’s self-interest to be providing Israel with $38 billion for Israel’s security paid over a ten year period, when Israel is continuing to develop closer ties with China in trade including technology transfers with much of this technology originating in America.

Whatever schism is coming between American Jews and Israel, the bottom line is it is not related to their religion of Judaism. The more politicians like Nancy Pelosi are carefully scrutinized, the more they appear to be out of their minds and completely oblivious to the critical issues facing us – and American Jews. What is the easiest way to convince the dysfunctional US Congress to continue forking over billions of dollars to Israel for their alleged defense? Simple, start threatening them with Hezbollah marching with their Nazi-like salute and goose stepping in military formation.

PELOSI: Yes to $38 billion for Israeli security, $0 for American border security

Not a rumor, but needs clarification. In 2016, Nancy Pelosi voted for a $38 billion security package for Israel, to be sent over a 10 year period. So it is not a one off payment, but it really makes her look bad for not wanting to secure America’s border at all. Today, Ron Paul said the obvious: “If Trump managed to get all welfare to illegal immigrants stopped, we would not need a wall.” That may be true, but getting that done in today’s political climate would be like trying to pull an icicle through a blast furnace with a sewing thread.

Ed. note: The question remains on whether or not Trump has “warned Israel” over its trade with China? Nothing wrong with trade, the problem is technology transfers to China from Israel that China will use to build the infrastructure for its Belt & Road Initiative. The US has destroyed Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Libya and has been working on Syria, and now that Trump announced the US military will be leaving Syria, that doesn’t leave America in a very good bargaining position compared to Russia and China and probably Iran.

Trump cedes Syria to Iran: ‘They can do what they want there, frankly’

Instead, America and its military will more than likely be humiliated and will in the end be criticized for destroying the region while Russia takes over security in the Middle East. Then China steps in to replace America offering to host Israeli-Palestinian talks to come to a peaceful settlement after decades of fighting. Look at the absolute shambles America has been left in with what has happened over the past 40 years or so of America working in Israel’s best interests. We are witnessing the deliberate destruction of America.

Trump must warn Israel on its China trade

President Trump must warn Israel that its rapidly growing economic relationship with China must not come at the expense of U.S. security and intellectual property interests.

While Israel-China trade has increased dramatically in recent years, its scale now poses a challenge to U.S. interests. As the BBC reports, Chinese investment in Israel is now likely to reach more than $15 billion annually and encompasses a wide range of high-tech companies.

While there’s nothing wrong with that trade on paper, China’s investments here are not ultimately rooted in economics. They are rooted in gaining access to and proprietary rights over the most cutting-edge technology software and hardware coming out of Israeli design laboratories and factories. And they are focused on those things because China wants to challenge the U.S. in its leadership and structuring of the global order.

Ed. note: Did readers happen to catch that CNBC news report on July 18, 2018 on “How Israel Could Benefit from a US-China Trade War”? President Trump announced strong trade actions against China and then simultaneously there has been a steady increase of Chinese investment in Israel especially in Israeli technology. There is a huge trade deficit between the US and China with something like $370 billion in China’s favor.

Donald Trump threatens a trade war but never discusses increasing trade between Israel and China as China states this will be “the biggest trade war in history.” The people surrounding Trump need to be asked: “Look, how is this supposed to help American technology firms and make America great again?” In the CNBC interview with Steven Schoenfeld of BlueStar Indexes, Schoenfeld says, “Israel tech firms have the same standards as firms in Silicon Valley”. That’s right, because Israel practically runs Silicon Valley and has been transferring that technology to Israel.
