Dear Lord Pearson:

Greenwill carbon footprint of DLA Piper murder for hire

Hawks CAFE asks you to investigate the unwitting (?) role of Samantha Cameron in a reverse takeover of Smythson by Greenwill which appears to have allowed the DLA Piper law firm to use RFID tracking devices, embedded in Smythson stationery, to monitor the carbon footprints of prospective victims of an Alien murder-for-hire service.

Our KSM agents have evidence that since the late 19th century, DLA Piper’s root companies and Magic Circle law firms have been using the printing and delivery of Smythson stationary – including invitations to celebrity events – to track prospective targets for assassination, including Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly and Princess Diana.

David Cameron’s wife Samantha is set for a bumper pre-Christmas bonus after her stationery firm Smythson’s was sold for £18 million. Mrs Cameron, who is creative director at the company, will be among senior managers who are in line for a share of a peformance-related cash package in the wake of the sale. Smythson, the 122-year-old leather goods and stationery retailer, has been bought by Greenwill SA, which is the holding company for Tivoli Group, a leading Italian leather goods manufacturer. Members of Smythson’s management, including Mrs Cameron, are set to share 1.5 per cent of the £18 million, or £270,000, as part of a long-term incentive plan, the Financial Times reported today. Mrs Cameron’s own personal bonus is unknown, but it is predicted that it could top £50,000. She has been recognised as the driving force behind the revival of the company, which has supplied note-paper to Princess Diana and Winston Churchill. The company, whose first store was opened by Frank Smythson in New Bond Street in 1887, was acquired by Kelso Place Asset Management and Venrex Investment Management in 2005 for £16 million.”

Smythson of Bond Street is one of the great traditional British brands. That’s not to suggest it’s old-fashioned or stuffy. Smythson products, in particular their customised stationery, are all about immaculate craftsmanship and style. Over the years, Smythson customers have included the Royal family, Grace Kelly and Madonna.”

“Alien Technology is a manufacturer of RFID technology. The company is headquartered in Morgan Hill, California, with a RFID tag manufacturing facility in Fargo, North Dakota, the Alien RFID Solutions Center, in the Dayton, Ohio area, and sales offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia. It currently employs approximately 235 people. Alien produces (EPC) Class 1 and Class 1 Gen 2 RFID inlays, tags and readers designed for use in manufacturing lines, warehouses, distribution centers, and retail stores. Due to potential applications in a wide variety of mass-produced electronic devices, the company received funding and technical support from a number of other manufacturers, such as DuPont Displays and Philips Components. The company’s stock symbol will be RFID, pending its listing on the NASDAQ. The company has established relationships with Wal-Mart, the U.S. Department of Defense, The Gillette Company, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Unisys, VeriSign, Manhattan Associates, Microsoft, The Kennedy Group, Nashua Corporation, NCR Corporation, Zebra Technologies and Paxar.”

“Princess Grace of Monaco died in hospital last night of injuries suffered in a road accident in the hills near her home on Monday morning. She was 52. She was originally reported as out of danger after receiving a broken thigh bone, collar bone and rib injuries in the accident when her Rover’s brakes reportedly failed and the car plunged 120 feet down a hillside. But a palace spokesman said last night that her condition had steadily deteriorated and she had died of a brain hemorrhage at 10.30 pm. Her daughter Princess Stephanie, aged 17, who was also in the car suffered only slight concussion and was released from hospital early yesterday. The exact cause of the crash remained a mystery and British Leyland yesterday sent three of its engineering experts to examine the car.”

“Princess Diana’s Death: The Strange Mystery of The Stolen Mercedes Involved In The Crash A few days prior to the crash that killed Princess Diana, the Mercedes Benz in which she died was stolen! Strange thing is, when found the only thing missing from the car was the onboard computer chip; that chip is responsible for controlling steering and braking! Stranger still is why that Benz S280 was the “only available car” that night! The onboard computer chip controls, amongst other things, navigation, acceleration, steering and braking of a vehicle. Considering that Princess Diana’s death was due to a car crash, the fact that the Mercedes S280 involved in the crash had its onboard computer chip stolen some days earlier (and nothing else mind you…suggesting the car-snatchers were no ordinary thieves) pushes the pervasive accident account onto firmer conspiracy territory. To date there actually exists a well established assassination technique from the 1980s (developed by the British SAS) nicknamed “The Boston Brakes” which involves steering, braking and acceleration capability being taken over by remote control!”

“So far DLA has made 40 redundancies and more are expected in the coming months. But the firm has escaped relatively unscathed compared to some of its rivals such as Clifford Chance and Linklaters .. Sir Nigel [Knowles] believes that the firm’s diversity of sector and geography means it is better prepared than other law firms that only have a UK cost base. DLA Piper currently has 68 offices in 28 countries .. One department which is experiencing growth is the restructuring team, which is being kept busy on the recovery and administration of a number of retailers, including music chain Zavvi and clothing group Mosaic. The firm is also working for the Belgian government in assessing the impact of the failure of the country’s largest bank, Fortis, which was rescued after it bought a large piece of Holland’s ABN Amro in 2007. The growth of the company is a huge achievement for the firm which began in Sheffield more than 30 years ago, but Sir Nigel says law is all he ever wanted to do .. After graduating with a law degree from Sheffield University Sir Nigel stayed in the city and joined Broomheads and Neals. In the early 1980s he opened the firm’s Doncaster office. Broomheads and Neals changed its name to Broomheads and in 1986 it merged with Dibb Lupton to create Dibb Lupton Broomhead. Sir Nigel went on to work out of the Leeds office where he built a successful corporate practice and got involved in what he believes was the first “public to private” transaction of the Glass Glover Group, a haulage distribution and produce conglomerate based in Doncaster. Sir Nigel was elected to the role of managing partner and relocated to London in 1996 .. Another milestone for DLA was bringing the former American vice-president Al Gore to Sheffield in 2007 to give a presentation at a major climate change conference organised by its Sheffield office. In December, he met Barack Obama whom he described as “utterly charming” during a visit to Chicago .. Sir Nigel is chairman of the Legal Sector Alliance, a collaboration of law firms committed to tackling climate change, backed by Prince Charles. He is also a member of Business in the Community’s environmental leadership team and of the steering committee of the Prince of Wales Rainforest Initiative. His interest in environmental issues is evident throughout DLA, which is trying to shrink its carbon footprint. Staff travelling abroad now need to meet a set of criteria before flying and the firm is also trialling a new video teleconference system to reduce its carbon footprint further.”

“The ‘brains trust’ at DLA Piper has a grand vision, and so far it certainly has not been shy about putting its plans for world domination into place. There is little doubt that the firm’s power base remains in the US. Two of the firm’s three chief executive officers are based there – Frank Burch in Baltimore and Lee Miller in Chicago. The US operation also has two managing directors in Jeffrey Liss in Washington DC and Terry O’Malley in San Diego. The firm’s chairman, Senator George Mitchell, is also US-based, operating out of New York. By contrast, London-based co-chief executive officer Nigel Knowles is responsible for all the non-US operations, covering the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia”

“DLA Piper UK LLP (DLA Piper) is delighted to announce that Robert Wardle, the former director of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has joined its market leading corporate crime and investigations practice. Robert’s appointment gives DLA Piper unique access to the UK’s leading former prosecutor. His presence adds to the 70 strong international team of regulatory investigations specialists. Robert joins a line-up that already boasts a large number of specialist lawyers drawn from regulators such as the Serious Fraud Office, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs, the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, the Office of Fair Trading and the Financial Services Authority.”
